Fics like nowhere to go but on

“What do you want, Rozanov?” Once upon a time, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov had been something of fated rivals. And then. Rozanov's national team crashed and burned in the 2014 Olympics in his own country. Shortly thereafter, he requested a trade to a Canadian team without much explanation, and by the end of the season, he was playing for Ottawa. Years of buildup and progress thrown away. The rivalry lost its luster after that, with Rozanov hardly a competition. Now, Rozanov was looking at Shane as if they shared a private joke. “I have, ah, Marly, what's the word? Proposition? Proposal?” “Business offer,” groaned Marlow, drawing his eyebrows together. “That,” Rozanov smirked. “Let's sit down, Hollander. Hear me out.” -- Or: Shane and Ilya never started hooking up. Several years into their career, some things are very different. At an All-Star game, the only out and proud player in the MLH approaches Shane with the suggestion to start a charity together. It's the beginning of something life changing.
