Fics like There's a WHAT wearing a WHAT?!

Bilbo Baggins was no longer just a "burglar." He was a fixture. He could be found in the kitchens correcting the seasoning of the stews, in the library organizing scrolls with Balin, or, more often than not, sitting on the edge of the King’s council table, swinging his feet and offering common-sense advice that Thorin actually listened to. The Company, the survivors of the original quest, had long since accepted this. They had watched the subtle shift from friendship to something deeper. They saw the way Thorin’s hand lingered on Bilbo’s shoulder, the way they shared quiet meals in the King’s private solar, and the way Thorin had presented Bilbo with the Mithril vest not just as armor, but as a promise. To the Company, it was obvious. They didn't feel the need to announce it because, to them, Bilbo had always been theirs. They simply forgot that the rest of the world hadn't been there for the journey. ... aka dain and dis aren't told about thorin courting the hobbit and are super confused
