Fics like Don’t wanna let you down, but I am hellbound

“Might as well go in together, watch each other’s backs,” he said unflappably. Cause Barnes might have just single-handedly destroyed seven heavily harmed Hydra soldiers, thus saving Sam’s hide, but he still looked a very far cry from the unstoppable force he’d been on that bridge in DC: in the fluorescent light that filtered from the entrance through the vines, his paleness had taken a sickly yellow shade and his eyes were fever-bright and a thousand miles away; no way in hell he was in any condition to siege a Hydra base on his own, super-soldier or not. Probably not even with Sam’s help, but since he doubted he could make the former assassin change his mind, going in together was their best option. Translation in Italian available.
