Fics like Purgatory of the Heart

April Fools Day, 2012. The bench was no longer, now being replaced with a long fallen log, fat with its years and swollen from how much water it swallowed in its final resting place. Beside him were his boots, socks, and camera. Why wasn’t it in his car where he left it? Where even was his car? Where was he? He twisted to look behind him, where his car should be parked right now, but instead of seeing the yellow vehicle, he saw a vast forest with trees still dull from the winter passing. A winding trail was visible between the finger-like branches, begging to grab onto Aaron. The utter shock and confusion of this whole ordeal only made his head pound harder and harder, pulsing like a heartbeat would. the steady rhythm echoing in his ears and traveling up and down his one arm, leaving it as achy as his head. Aaron reached up to rub the spot causing him so much pain when his hand was met with not hair, but a hat. Under his fingers, he felt the once again familiar sensation of faux fur hidden under canvas, covering the entirety of his head. ears warm and covered under the shelter of the trapper hat. The same one he borrowed from Josef when they went to— The Heart Rock.
