Valentino’s touch, sudden and warm, takes Marc by surprise. He feels the scrape of knuckles at his sides before Valentino grips the tight fabric and begins to lift it, baring him up to his chest. Marc simply expects the pain to hit, hard and right on time, any second now. But Valentino manages to be so incredibly gentle as he lifts Marc’s left arm to slide off the sleeve. On top of that, Marc realizes Valentino is holding the other side of the shirt taut, to reduce the pressure on his right arm. The rest is fairly straightforward: head out first, then everything else, dragged off with excruciating slowness. And just like that, Marc’s not just shirtless…he’s exposed. To judgements. To pity. To such beautiful and bottomless blue eyes. To the awful awareness of a vulnerability he can’t overcome. Not on days like this, when his arm feels so heavy he could swear it’s about to fall off. Valentino waits, giving Marc time to adjust (or maybe a chance to back out) then looks around and says, “You wouldn’t happen to have any cream or massage oil, would you?”
