Fics like Black Sheep

“Est can recall the top notes of a perfume he wore one New York winter, but he can't remember the name of the man who embraced him one night after drinking. In a world where he is nothing more than a series of angles for a camera, Est has finally found something they cannot photograph: a feeling.“ The face wouldn't resolve. The memory held the sensation—the feeling of being seen and held and wanted—but not the image. The image was blurred, the features washed out by the brightness of the alcohol and the emotion and the sheer, overwhelming intensity of a night that had contained too much for any single memory to hold. Who? The dented pillow. The twisted sheets. The sunlight, merciless and bright. This moment was a blur. A smear. An image that refused to develop. Who? "He has the top notes and the base notes, but the heart note—the thing that makes the scent real—is missing. He isn't looking for a lover; he’s looking for the missing ingredient in his own life." —"Scream out or drown Can you hear the voice say now? Go home and back to sleep And count the black sheep."
