Fics like Stay behind me

A few weeks after the Nogitsune, Stiles is still healing. Derek deals with that by pretending he isn’t constantly watching him, constantly stepping closer, constantly ready to tear apart anyone who gets too near. When a werewolf from out of town challenges the pack, the confrontation should be simple. Instead, the stranger notices the way Derek shields Stiles—like he’s more than pack. Like he’s something claimed. Derek knows what that kind of instinct means. Stiles doesn’t. And when Stiles gets caught in the crossfire, denial stops being an option.
