Fics like A Chirp Too Loud

“You’re starting to sound like him,” said Hunter. Shane thought… if Hunter knew… he had had years to out them. He had been in the room next to Ilya’s. But he had never said anything. Feeling numb, terrified, Shane said, “I’m sorry, what?” “You fucking heard me, Hollander.” Hunter’s face was so angry. Shane saw the truth, the threat, in the man’s face. He was on a mic. He was mic’d. This would ruin Shane and Rozanov. He dropped his gloves without really thinking about it. He never dropped his gloves. Hunter couldn’t run his mouth without teeth. His teammates caught him and held him back. He chirped a lot, calling Hunter old and past it, hoping to distract him, get him to not say the worst thing he could possibly say. All Shane could hope for was a distraction. When Hunter chirps at Shane while mic’d up for behind-the-scenes content, Shane feels sick. He knows his parents, Ilya and the world hear it, and he worries about the consequences.
