Fics like The Strange Case of the Amateur Alchemist

When a patient doesn't arrive for their scheduled appointment, Watson makes a house call that lands him in the middle of something bigger than he'd expected. His patient is embroiled in some dangerous alchemical work, and Watson is soon plunged into the midst of it, finding himself sick, disoriented, and isolated from Holmes. Meanwhile, Holmes would very much like to solve his latest case: the disappearance of his partner, Dr. Watson. There are just too many people involved, and the trails keep going cold before he can see them through. Will he be too late? Also are Lestrade and Mycroft actually going to help, or are they just going to make it all worse?
