Fics like secret languages

There are lots of things his parents don’t understand. Like the fact that Shane’s had nearly a decade long relationship or the fact that he kept it hidden from them or why Shane has decided to have all of those things with someone like Ilya Rozanov. He can’t possibly explain it all in a way that would make them understand it, how deep it goes, how vast it is, how much more he wants to look forward to. It’s a language really, after all this time, only he and Ilya could be fluent in. But when the rest of the world goes hazy and Ilya’s hand settles on the back of his neck right there at the dinner table, when he kisses the breath back into Shane’s lungs, when he tips his head sideways to knock it lovingly against Shane’s right here and on purpose—it’s universal. It needs no translation. You and me—we’re on the same team.
