Fics like The New Dan Ashcroft

Dan used to be a self-destructive, hard drinking, chain-smoking, misanthropic mess who hated his horrible job at a crap magazine. Now he's working a sweet job at a different crap magazine, is getting to know the adult daughter he met two years ago and is in a relationship with his old friend, Jones. He's mellowed out into a mildly self-destructive, binge drinking, heavy smoking quasi-success. Life is sweet, and Dan is just waiting for it to all fall apart around his head.
