Fics like emotional motion sickness

"I'll help you get better," Will says, palms outstretched like he's asking for mercy or offering it. His face is slick with tears, catching at the corners of his mouth, his breath breaking around them. "I'm right here," he pleads. "Don't you want to get better?" Mike's chest locks up. He can barely breathe. He's so afraid of the answer. More afraid of what it means. "I can't do this, Will." "Please." Will's voice comes out fractured. He's desperate now, begging, looking like he could drop to his knees. Mike's hands twitch at his sides. He almost reaches, almost cries, almost stops being the coward he's always been. The truth hides behind his teeth and he just swallows it all down. "I'm sorry," He whispers. They both know the answer. They both want to run from it. OR mike wheeler turns to unhealthy coping mechanisms because of his mental health. but he’s not alone in it, and he never has been.
