Fics like Cold Water

Vox accidentally fakes his death and escapes to the ocean, inadvertently forcing himself to become a better person. Stripped of the screen that weighed him down and protected him, he has to carve a new identity for himself. Meanwhile, the Vees and Alastor have new challenges as they try to pick up the pieces he left behind. Stewing in grief and regret causes conflicts to brew, especially for a particularly emotionally constipated deer. Alastor's excitement doesn't last as long as it should have and the satisfaction of winning feels awfully hollow when there's no one to gloat to. Now that Vox isn't around, unwelcome memories force their way back in, making him wonder where the line between Vincent and Vox blurs, and if the TV was as fake as Alastor had convinced himself. From his misadventures across the waves, Vince starts to wonder what he could've done differently, and what it was about that stupid deer that drove him so crazy. But as painful as the past may be, it's time to move on. Besides, it's not like they'll ever see eachother again... Right? Can a skin tight crop top be practical uniform for someone who works underwater? (Surprisingly so)
