Fics like For Want of a Dad

Severus looked down and came face to face with a miniature version of himself. The boy’s big green eyes, Lily’s eyes— Severus made the connection without meaning to— peered up at him through dark, wet lashes. He was covered in bruises, his clothes stained with blood. They looked like rags the way they hung off his bony frame. It was the middle of summer, arguably one of the hottest mornings so far; the boy was still trembling. Aunt Petunia makes a nasty comment about Lily, a lie meant to make herself feel better about her own life. Harry believes it. His dad didn’t die in a car crush with his mum, he’s still alive! And his name is Severus Snape. Magic is belief. Magic is intention. Magic is love— Harry Potter really wants to be loved. He really wants a dad too. Magic decides to make it true.
