Fics like ink spilled

Before Nathan became what he died as, before home was the ripped leather of a passenger seat and a busted radio. Neil wonders if there was ever a time where his mother swaddled him in one of these. If he’d ever pressed his cheek against it the way he does now. It’s almost thoughtless how he nuzzles his cheek into it, pushes past the soft to let the batting scratch him. It doesn’t feel as good. It itches a little bit. Hurts a little bit. That feels more like her. The hurt. [ or: neil buys a baby blanket, confesses to his boyfriend, thinks of his mother, and does not have a panic attack. not necessarily in that order. ]
