Fics like The Birds Are Judging and So Are the Adepti

”You look like a diplomatic incident waiting to happen.” “Only if you’re into that.” He winks. Zhongli does not return it. He adjusts the cuff of his sleeve with the calm of someone preparing to disown a pet for biting the archon statue in front of guests. “This is a sacred occasion.” Childe hums. “You’re taking me to meet your coworkers.” “They are not—” Zhongli pauses. Breathes. “They are divine beings. Adepti. Guardians of Liyue. Ancient, proud, and steeped in ritual.” Childe throws on a belt with too many pouches. “So like... the Yaksha Boy Band plus Grandma Cloud Retainer?” Zhongli closes his eyes. He counts to ten. He does not get past two. In which Zhongli brings his chaos boyfriend to meet the adepti and immediately regrets it.
