Fics like Feathers and Freedom

“Woah. What do we have here?” Neuvillette startles, launching a spray of saltwater into the air as he uses his tail fin to slam to a halt. He stares at the beach where the voice originated, and the massive winged male standing alone on the sand stares right back. For a heartbeat, all they do is stare. Tension crackles like Electro along rigid sight lines until the male blinks, snapping the connection. Freed from this strange tether of eye contact, Neuvillette pumps his tail and begins retreating into deeper water. Sparing a glance over his shoulder, he sees the male wading through the waves with both feet planted on the ground. His wings remain unused, folded snugly against his back. He chases... but he chooses not to fly? Why? A creature of the sea and a man of the sky learn how to reach new heights together.
