Fics like Smalltown Girl

Eleven is 16 and her brother comes out to her (+ her other brother and mother ONLY instead of holding a fucking press conference) mere hours before they stop the apocalypse. She's almost completely sure he has a crush on her boyfriend and it's also likely that said boyfriend reciprocates. As the three of them try to navigate the situation and their respective traumas - across the span of 5 years -, she is forced to face her feelings and rethink her (sexual) identity. And so do Mike and Will. Ah, they've fled to Canada, so there's that. OR the byler/henderhop post-canon fix-it for those who think the Duffers did our girl (and our boys) so dirty they deserve the death penalty, featuring: a different approach to painting gate, jealous and angsty, disaster gay, punk little shit Mike, good friend (and boyfriend) Dustin Henderson, mental health struggles, stupid sexy Carlton + a lot of 80s references and Canadian facts that may or may not be accurate. From (queer) El's POV
