Fics like pulling teeth

Conner hadn't been avoiding Gotham on purpose, honest. It's just, things got complicated, and he needed time to work through them. Regardless of his feelings on the matter, he ends up back in the city earlier than he'd hoped. It's fine, though, totally chill, because he's pretty sure he's got a handle on everything now. He can be normal again, as long as they stay normal. Unfortunately, Tim and Bernard seemed to have missed that particular memo. (featuring: Conner Kent's weak, treacherous heart being weak and treacherous; Tim Drake maxxing out his compartmentalisation stats; and Bernard Dowd taking advantage of local anaestasia.)
