Fics like What Do I Do Now? (I Don't Keep Love Around)

Mike wakes to the sound of movement in the kitchen. He pushes himself up, still groggy, and steps into the hallway. “Hey, baby,” a voice says easily, not looking up. “You want coffee—?” Carlton turns around, stops short. Blinks once. “Oh,” he says, then laughs under his breath. “You’re… not Will.” Mike freezes. Or, Post-canon, Mike Wheeler crashes at his best friend’s New York apartment for a book deal. But he wasn't ready to see this version of Will Byers: confident, successful, in love, surrounded by community and so, so free. While Will lives the life he has always deserved, Mike grieves El and comes to the quiet, devastating realization that he might be in love a few years too late. Despite everything, they still seem to find their way back to each other.
