Fics like Tether (I see you)

Eddie Munson is dead, and Julie Emerson has learned to live through that notion by forcing herself to accept it. In a town under military watch, where his death is treated like a breath of relief and his name still draws venom from those who refuse to let the satanic-panic narrative die, she keeps herself functional by refusing to linger—on the past, on the Upside Down, on the boy she watched die and swore she would never forget. Grief becomes something to manage, to contain, locked behind routine and medication and sheer force of will. Except Eddie refuses to stay gone. He appears in mirrors, in windows, in the quiet spaces between one breath and the next—silent, still, watching her with a familiarity that hurts worse than his absence. When another kid vanishes and the walls between worlds begin to thin once more, Julie is forced back toward the people she’s spent eighteen months avoiding, and toward a truth she’s been running from: whatever is reaching for her through the dark isn’t just grief or madness. It’s a pull. A tether. A rope stretched tight between two worlds— And whatever’s holding on the other side of it doesn’t have much time left.
