Fics like In Which the Elf Dies Horribly: A Winter Tradition, As Narrated by Silver Vanrouge

“Father?” Silver called out, gently pushing himself up on his elbows. It seems like he had fallen asleep on the couch and a blanket had been lovingly draped over his small figure to keep him nice and warm from the creeping winter chill. Though, in hindsight, it was a little strange that his father hadn't just carried him to his room like usual, although this wasn't the forefront of what Silver was truly curious about. “Why are you—” His father suddenly turned with an expectant grin. “Ah! You’re awake. Excellent timing.” He stepped aside. There was a small figure sitting on the shelf. It wore red. Its smile was stitched, not painted, and its eyes caught the morning light in a way that made them seem almost alive. It sat perfectly upright, hands folded on its knees, as if it had been waiting. Silver stared. After a moment had passed he asked quietly. “What is that?” His father clasped his hands together, delighted. “That, my dear boy, is an elf.” Alternatively, the “The Elf on the Shelf” Tradition if Christmas was a thing in Twisted Wonderland.
