Fics like A Guide to Asking Out Will Byers

“Come on, Mike. Tell me what’s wrong.” Where does he even start? It’s not like he can tell her that everything is wrong, and it has been since he was five years old and asked the lonely boy on the swings to be his friend. It’s not like he can tell her that he’s wrong. That he is in love with his best friend, who is the younger brother of her own boyfriend, and, oh yeah, just so happens to be a boy. Mike looks up, barely able to meet his sister’s eyes. He opens his mouth, ready to deflect, before he blurts out, “How do you ask someone out?” Shit. That is definitely not what he intended to say, and judging by the look on Nancy’s face, that isn’t what she thought he’d say either. She pushes a loose curl behind her ear before answering. “Oh. Are you and Eleven getting back together again?" “What? No! What? Of course not!” While he’s not surprised Nancy thinks that, he reserves the right to treat her as a crazy person. OR: Three times Mike failed to ask Will out, and one time he succeeded.
