[Martyn didn’t like that Apo was serving in the military. He’d grown up with her and knew how she got about fighting, she was a protector that was true, but violence was not something she enjoyed. She’d been crushed when her mission at Fernsfield failed, she didn’t get into the specifics of it but Martyn knew her higher ups had said something about her hemophobia. When she was stationed at Oakhurst Martyn took the time to find it on a map and follow her. He couldn’t convince her out of her dream, Apo was a stubborn woman and it only got worse when he gave his opinions so he planned to do his best to make her experience better… maybe keep her company - he wasn’t good at many things but he could always make her smile. When he arrived a few days after her Apo saw through his lies easily. He hadn’t expected for the place to be so remote, he usually stuck around places with running water. He stood his ground when saying that the both of them ending up at the same place was a coincidence. He got his first scoff and eyeroll - it made him grin fondly at his childhood friend.] --- Or --- Martyn and Apo grew up together. Sibling shenanigans ensue :)
