Fics like Metallic taste

"Zanka doesn't know when it began. There was a lingering feeling in the air, a faint smell of iron, like he was actively being haunted by something, someone. An unsettling feeling drooped in his stomach, hollowing him from the inside out. It had become familiar in a sort of twisted way. He questioned it, of course; at first, at least. But he never detected anyone following him, and nobody else understood his concerns, so he simply blamed his heightened senses from a lifetime of training. Everything on the ground could smell of iron, since there was so much trash. And he couldn't quite tell what it would be, if not the pollution mixed with the environment. The smell was a little dizzying at times, when it got stronger, leaving him somewhat dazed for a couple of seconds. But it happened rarely, and it was easy to ignore. Maybe the sleepless nights were catching up to him?" aka Zanka gets his life saved by his stalking-inclined masochistic rival, and confronting him goes awfully off the rails.
