Fics like catching a firefly

Etho finds the energy to roll over to face the stranger. Everything about him is loud: his voice, his wide eyes and grin, messy dark hair resting on warm, sun-browned skin. There is a gap between the two front teeth of his ever-present smile, which Etho’s half asleep brain finds endearing somehow. “Ah, you put your mask back on.” Why does he sound… disappointed? “Who are you?” Etho asks after a moment, not wanting to forget too quickly that this stranger has been watching him sleep, still hasn’t explained himself, and is most likely another foreigner. “Right. Probably should have started with that, huh.” The stranger extends his hand so Etho can shake it, which he does with some reservation. “Bdubs. BdoubleO if you want to be formal about it, which you might considering I did save your life.” or; Etho is saved by a stranger—who he knows he can’t see again, no matter how much he strangely wants to. Bdubs rescues a mysterious townsperson from a fire his own people started. Neither can figure out why they’re supposed to hate each other.
