Fics like One More Year

“The Curtis’ are lovely people, I promise you. I went to high school with them. They have two kids of their own, thirteen and ten, respectively. I reckon you’ll get along with them just fine.” “Why’re they takin’ me if they already got kids?” Catherine smiled at him through the rear view mirror. “I guess you’ll have to ask them, hm?” Darrel grumbled, crossing his arms and sinking down into his seat. “Darrel, stop it,” She demanded. “They’re a nice family with sweet kids. You need to try to get along with them, that’s all I’m asking. Even if it’s just for a year until you age out.” One more year. //// Or, after years of being bounced from house to house, Darrel Shaynne is finally getting his forever home. Or, well, the final home they’ll let him stay in. Darry doesn’t know who these Curtis’ are, but every interaction with them makes his head spin. His world tossed upside down in one afternoon.
