Char and I had been married for a little over a month when we’d been sent on what King Jerrold had called a “diplomatic tour” of Kyrria. Queen Daria had called it our just desserts after the complete pandemonium we’d caused, she’d claimed. She wasn’t exactly wrong: there’d be one lass, me, fleeing from the prince in the middle of a ball. Then, the same prince chasing after her, only to find her working as a scullery maid at a wealthy manor. Followed by yet another twist, that she was the step-daughter of the lady of the house. And then we’d been married in a month! Across the country, everyone was curious about me, and I couldn’t exactly blame them.
