Fics like Forget the Agony Again

“Let it hurt. Let it ravage you and run its course, let it tear you asunder as it makes you kneel. Let yourself feel the ache, its fury. Then, when it is done, let it leave. You will be able to put yourself back together after it is gone.” Dan Heng has spent thousands of years in isolation, a god haunting a mountain with wards fabricated to keep everyone out. He tends to the land quietly, sowing his guilt into the Earth and cultivating its growth. He does this knowing that the alternative is worse. If he is lonely, he does not know. One day, on a normal night, there is a man bleeding out in his flowerbed. Dan Heng once vowed he would never interfere with life again, when he laid his spear down inside another man's chest. But still, he brings the man home and saves him. And Caelus will teach him more than just a language. Hurting and healing feel the same, but it needn't be done alone.
