A dangerous serial killer is on the loose. How will Bruce catch them when he can't remember what happened only moments ago? Bruce Wayne wakes with anterograde amnesia—twelve minutes of retention, then reset. He can't form new long-term memories, can't remember the last conversation, can't verify his own identity beyond what documentation tells him. Clark Kent loves him anyway. Loves him forty-seven times over, each reset a new choice to trust evidence instead of memory. But when renowned neuroscientist Dr. Harrison Wells is murdered using the same extraction methodology that killed twelve others, all evidence points to Bruce Wayne. Fingerprints on the equipment. DNA under the victim's fingernails. Nine hours of missing time he can't account for. Bruce doesn't remember killing him. But he doesn't remember not killing him either. Told in dual timelines—color chapters moving backward through Bruce's life with amnesia, black-and-white chapters moving forward through the investigation that preceded it—RETROGRADE is a psychological thriller about identity without memory, trust without verification, and what it means to be Batman when you can't remember being Batman.
