Fics like A Happy Idiot, A Miserable Strategist

“Promises that are too good to be true often are, my dear,” Alastor huffed, voice tinged with static and made rougher by the late hour. “Especially in hell. I suggest you learn that particular lesson sooner rather than later.” His gaze trailed down to where Vox’s hand was inching closer to his own. “For your own sake.” “Let me worry about myself,” he murmured back. “And let me worry about you every once and a while.” Alastor snickered like the other had just told a good joke, because, well, he had. “I don’t need anybody worrying about me, Vincent.” “Do you have to need something in order to accept it?” he returned. “Come on, Al. Just… trust me.” Half romantic comedy and half psychological horror, this fic is my take on the events that led up to Alastor and Vox's break off. After having a drunken dub-con hookup they get into a situationship that's one-sided, which Vox is oblivious to, and Alastor is doing on purpose bc he's Like That. It's a dual narrative that leads to the toxic yaoi you know and love. Ft: friends to lovers to enemies, mind games, incredibly unhealthy attachment, swing dancing, and losing your best friend in the most unexpected and inevitable way enjoy <3
