Fics like so easy (to fall in love)

Pete longs for a sweetheart. He doesn’t remember his parents all that well but he knows they were in a deep, all encompassing love. He has faded photographs, letters they wrote each other, bundled up together in a shoebox under his bed. On a good day his Uncle would tell him stories about his parents if he were tipsy and feeling sentimental, the sweet spot he stayed in before he became belligerent and hot tempered. “Pete, my brother looked at your mama look she hung the damn stars in the sky.” He’d told him once. “'My whole world', that’s what he called her.” Sometimes, Pete will lay in bed and stare up at the ceiling, listening to the snores of his roommate as he lets himself wax poetic. The love of my life could be on this very campus. He would think, biting at his lip to keep from smiling. My whole world could be just around the corner. And he was. or: Pete, a hopeless romantic against all odds, meets the love of his life on an unremarkable Friday night.
