Fics like So Very Loving and Kind

Technically speaking, all dreams are memories…of a kind. But the visions that Jannik’s been having about Carlos this week have been terrifyingly realistic. In them, the Spaniard seems so real. The settings too, are distressingly grounded in reality. Only in these quasi-memories, Carlos behaves nothing like the young man Jannik actually knows from years of playing tennis together. Following his retirement in Cincinnati, Jannik finds himself subject to an escalating series of lucid dreams about Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian is certain that they’re dreams, even if they don’t feel that way. In fact, they must be dreams. No matter how viscerally the contents chase after him in waking life. They simply cannot be anything but the bizarre fantasies of a fatigued mind. Can they?
