Fics like No Other Ghost

There were more of them, in these hallways, she was certain. She remembered her own secondary school years as though through fog, but she’d never forget certain parts of it—the struggles of getting a diagnosis, the misery of seeing her body get worse; and then more bad news, all the while she tried to convince at least one teacher to call her Carmilla. They only had Loreli. As much as they had appreciated that, it wasn’t enough; not when you were starved for someone who understood; who could show you their mobility aid or just smile with understanding at a story of being questioned, of being accused of not looking ‘disabled enough’. So though she did not care for school and the people in it, Carmilla would do this. She would provide these children with the one thing she wished she had had: a fucking community.
