Fics like Who Saves the Damned?

A young version of Jason Todd gets time displaced and dropped into the Batcave. Wide-eyed, loudmouthed, and still soft enough to believe the world won’t eat him alive. He thinks seeing his future self is cool. He thinks the grey hair is funny. He thinks the tension in the room is nothing a joke can’t fix. Then he notices the guns. When he demands answers, Jason gives them to him—every ugly piece, every shard of the truth no one else wants spoken out loud. Sometimes the past comes calling. And sometimes it looks you in the eyes and says it never wants to grow into the monster you’ve become. “Yeah.” Jason murmurs. “I didn’t want to be me either.”
