Fics like Where The Wild Wolves Are

A year after running away to the island where the Wild Things are and returning back home, a now ten-year-old Max is still haunted by loneliness. After an explosive fight pushes him to the edge, he flees and runs away from home again—taking a bus and a train deep into the emerging green peaks of Jasper National Park, Canada, where he discovers he can hear the voices of the wild. Set one year after Where The Wild Things Are (2009) and following the events of Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom (2017), Max stumbles into a complex animal civilization. He must navigate a world of Alpha and Omega wolves (like Kate and Humphrey), imposing Bear Royalty, and wary woodland creatures. After staying at Jasper Park for almost five months, Max and the rest of the animals find out that encroaching human trappers and a dangerous rogue wolf named Reuben threaten the forest's fragile peace, and they realize a chaotic "wild rumpus" won't save them. Max must combine human ingenuity with newfound empathy to unite the animal factions. Through tracking lessons, survival, and profound found-family bonds, Max defends their home, finding closure for his past and the courage to finally face the vast human world ahead.
