Avid rushes out into the centre of town, stake in hand, Drift on his tail, and Apo not far behind. The townsfolk – vampires and humans alike – hover at the edges, some taking refuge from the furious, bloody figure on the steps of the tavern, others sticking close to the beacon’s tower, using the strength to their benefit. As he comes to a skidding stop, the figure looks up, and Owen bares his fangs, eyes flashing crimson. “Who is this?” He snarls, throwing an arm out to the mutilated corpse beneath him. “And what were they doing in my forest?” Swallowing fearfully, Avid slowly but surely drops his gaze. There, crumpled beneath the vampire lays a body. It’s split, twisted wrongly with bones poking out at angles Avid’s certain they should never be bent to. At his side, Apo curses weakly, muttering out a headcount whilst Drift sucks in a horrified breath. There’s too much blood to tell who it could possibly be, but one thing is for certain; that person is well and truly dead. --------- Or: Avid opens a... "bakery", Cleo becomes the somewhat official mayor of Oakhurst, and the town puts aside their differences with the vampires as a war brews steadily on the horizon.
