Fics like Floors Under Things

Rody Lamoree was once a promising student, a man with plans, and a love worth keeping. Now he’s a waiter with twenty-eight job histories, a crooked tie, and a letter he can’t bring himself to send. Between wine spills and whispered apologies, he’s learning that stability isn’t built from grand gestures—it’s built from small, quiet repetitions: polishing glasses, showing up, remembering to breathe. When Manon, the woman he lost, walks back into the restaurant he calls survival, old feelings return like the scent of thyme in the air—familiar, haunting, and impossible to ignore. What begins as polite conversation over duck and wine turns into a slow reconstruction of what they once destroyed. In a world where miracles are rare and second chances are earned in hours worked and meals cooked right, Rody must prove that love can stand—not on promises, but on the floors we build beneath them.
