Fics like Cradle the sun

“Just give me… some time and—and I can… change back. You don’t have to…” Nothing more escaped him. Even that was too much for Phainon, lips pressed into a thin line mired with regret that he had spoken at all. “I don’t have to what?” Phainon didn’t answer. “I don’t have to what, Phainon?” Mydei demanded, sharp and rough, but that was always when Phainon met him head on. The truth spilled out in a cracked whisper. “Try and love me. When I—when I’m like this.” Amphoreus’ first solar eclipse was meant to be a time for celebration. But the sight of daylight devoured by darkness dredges Phainon’s old memories and transformations with them in a frenzied haze. Mydei proves to Phainon that his appearances, and the past entangled within them, has never mattered to him.
