Fics like Loves out there (and I can’t leave it be)

“I don’t really know where I’m going,” Regulus told him. He hadn’t even decided to say it, it just slipped out. He continued, “I just know it has to be far, far from here.” James seemed surprised that Regulus had finally answered his question. He took another bite of his french toast and looked down, seeming to think for a moment. When he looked back up, he was wearing a tentative grin. “Hey,” he said. “Do you wanna see the west with me?” .... Or, Regulus Black runs away from his family home with nothing but the clothes on his back and finds himself stranded on the side of the Texas thoroughfare. That is, until a kind stranger by the name of James Potter, who is on a journey across the United States to find a love as strong as his parents love for each other, picks him up. James invites Regulus to join him on this trip, and Regulus, for lack of a better option, accepts this offer. So they set off together, searching the country for something that’s right in front of them. ... Based on “Thoroughfare” by Ethel Cain (but with a happier ending than Ethel’s story)
