Fics like Beauty, in the Eye of the Beholder

“You’re standing quite close to the edge, there. If you’re not careful one of those Magikarps might knock you right in.” The sudden voice startles you, making you jolt as you gasp. It’s deep and gruff, certainly not a voice you recognize. When you turn around and peer upwards, you realize that there’s a figure standing on the street above, looking down at you near the waterway. It’s a man with greying hair, dressed in rather well-worn clothing and a jacket with a large fur collar. His left eye is shut, making you wonder if he has some sort of impairment. There were a lot of things you could have said. You could have told him off for startling you, asked him to leave you alone, or you may have even asked for his name. Instead, what comes out is a question. “Do I know you?” OR Following the loss of a dear friend, you find yourself stuck in your mourning and aimless in your life. It's just your luck that in the oddest of places you manage to meet a man who seems pretty lost as well. He's so familiar to you, but you just can't quite figure out where you know him from.
