Fics like confession to a smoke cloud

"Yuma? You there?" Yuma snaps out of it. Poor Jo—he'd left him hanging. "Yeah, sorry. He texted me." "Nicholas?" "Harua." "Oh." Jo sounds a little confused. "What did he have to say?" "He's giving me tips on how to seduce his brother," Yuma replies. With new energy, he springs from the mattress and throws his closet doors open, squeezing past his parents’ storage boxes to rummage through the hangers. "I guess I have to sneak a crop top into my outfits this week somehow." A pause. The scratching of pencil against paper on the other end. "This deal seems odd," is all Jo says, before falling silent again. (or: yuma, a burnt out college sophomore on summer break, and harua, a wannabe rebel stuck in gap year hell, make a deal with nicholas as the collateral. other things end up on the line, too.)
