Fics like Stay, Just in Case

John Sheppard has made a habit out of surviving, but even he’s running out of ways to hide what it’s cost him. After a mission gone wrong leaves John clinging to life, Rodney McKay finds himself keeping vigil for a man who never stays still long enough to be safe. But recovery has a way of forcing old walls to crumble. Between the deadly silences, the nervous laughter, and the nights when neither of them can sleep, John and Rodney learn what it means to be. *** Or the one where John almost dies (again). Rodney refuses to let go (again). And somewhere between blood loss, flowers, and late-night conversations, they stop pretending.
