Fics like i was a ghost, i was alone

“Why?” Rumi asks the burning house and the melting corpses. “Why do you want me here? What do I need to see?” Mira is the only one who answers. It’s small, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, but Rumi catches the golden glint amidst all the embers and sees it. A singular lighter at Mira’s feet. The realization hits Rumi like a truck. “You did this.” Mira’s smile as the fire swallows her whole is hauntingly beautiful. Rumi feels her breath catch, the oxygen leaving her lungs and filling her with smoke. Mira is still smiling, the glint in her eyes ever unchanging, and Rumi goes lightheaded. Rumi tries to stand, tries to hold herself up, but whatever pull that is here between them is strong, much stronger than anything Celine has taught her, and the last coherent thought Rumi had before she goes completely under is that she could’ve sworn Mira smiled at her. And she was ravishing. where Rumi is a house flipper, comes fix up an abandoned haunted house and falls in love with traces of Mira who burned the place and her family along with it.
