Fics like The Dominion War Years II: Starfleet Intelligence

The Deep Space Federation, threatened on two fronts by the Dominion-Cardassian alliance and Edward Janeway's authoritarian Terran Union, is barely hanging on by a thread and desperately needs new allies. Kathryn Janeway and her friends Julian Bashir, Jadzia Dax and Garak have been recruited by Starfleet Intelligence and are about to be sent on a covert mission to win Romulan support for the Federation. Meanwhile, Phoebe Janeway attempts to undermine her father's regime from within and Will Riker must battle his demons to combat the potentially more serious threat of the Dominion in the Gamma Quadrant. ~*~ This is the final multi-chapter instalment of this series. It’s a heavily canon-divergent, plot-driven story with plenty of Janeway/Riker romance. Also featuring: ‘In the Pale Moonlight’ Janeway-style, Romulan trickery and triple-bluffing, and a Janeway family showdown. The angst is less heavy than the previous entry, but we’re still in the middle of the Dominion War, so nobody is having an easy time.
