Fics like In Bambi’s Sight

After surviving the events of Iron Man 2, Tony Stark finds himself questioning the armor he’s built around his heart. Lonely, vulnerable, and haunted by the past, he never expects Hydra — long thought defeated — to strike again. Captured and left in a cell, he comes face-to-face with the enigmatic Winter Soldier: a silent, masked operative whose piercing blue eyes seem to see straight through him. As Tony grapples with fear, disorientation, and the effects of his tranquilizer haze, he begins to ramble, revealing glimpses of the man beneath Iron Man’s bravado. The Winter Soldier, silently watching, dubs him “Bambi,” a nickname born from those wide, trusting eyes that betray both innocence and brilliance. Trapped together, Tony and the Winter Soldier navigate a tense, quiet dance of observation, subtle gestures, and slowly building trust. In the shadows of Hydra’s control, the two men discover a connection neither expected — a fragile, tender bond that might be strong enough to survive the darkness closing in around them.
