“Sorry about Tang Shen.” “I have had time. I would not trade those 16 years with sons. I am not without faults. Sometimes I wonder if my sons have missed a mother. If Tang Shen were alive, what would she have done? She birthed a daughter one year before her death. “Yours?” “No, but that is not my story to tell. Tang Shen named her daughter Karai. I offered to co-parent. She refused. At the time, I believed being a single parent meant doom. Imagine Shen's laughter. It is difficult indeed. So, so, difficult… But, now that I had parented through my sorrow it was likewise rewarding. I see them grow. I learn more every year. I will miss Tang Shen, remember and cherish our special bond, that will not change, however, I have come to a point where I imagine how she would have loved and raised my sons, and they love her. My life in New York started from loss and evolved into something new. Years in the sewers carved its own fundament.” Splinter's eyes softened. “Though I believe you and I can relate to some aspects like grief, there are aspects where we don't. Peace and healing.” “FUCK YOU! I KNOW PEACE AND HEALING! I'M THE MOST PEACEFUL AND HEALED MUTANT YOU HAVE EVER MET!”
