Fics like A Mother's Love

Barbara Boxer was a little woman, smaller than Rosemary, but with distinct knack for never being overlooked, despite her size. She’d raised Rosemary all on her own like it was the easiest thing in the world, taking her hither and yon and imbuing her child with both the urge to wander and a fierce loathing of being tied down that had yet to be fully quelled. Even once Rosemary had been working at the university for decades and had come to love her work with a passion, god, she’d had to get away nearly every weekend. Taken all her holidays, her sick leave, sometimes she’d scoop up her mother and they’d fly to Morocco, or Spain, and that would take the edge off for a few weeks. No longer. Now, her mother was getting too old, and Rosemary had Laura. It was odd, somehow. She adored traveling with Laura, but at the same time, when she was with Laura, she really didn’t need to. It was like that urge, the urge to be somewhere else, to explore, to be out there doing something, it was like that was already being sated, somehow, by Laura.
