Fics like Tidal Waves

“If there's anything I can do to convince you to stay, anything at all…” He doesn’t even bother to finish his sentence; what could he possibly offer that would ever be enough to assuage Keith’s fears? Reassurance, maybe. He could list all the things he’s done right as the black paladin, assure him he’s a better leader than he thinks, start backing him up in his decisions and be the red paladin he deserves. It won’t be enough. Nothing Lance could give him will ever be enough. “Actually, there is something.” Lance’s gaze snaps up to meet Keith’s. There’s something different in his expression now—less hopeless, more… contemplative—and Lance’s heart swells so quickly with hope, it’s painful. Without breaking his gaze, Keith calls up his bayard and extends it toward Lance. “You be the black paladin.” -- Keith and Lance struggle to find their footing as the new black and red paladins of Voltron.
