Fics like Something Like a Hero

Desmond Miles died saving the world. He did not stay dead. Two centuries later, he is four years old in a Japanese orphanage, fluent in a language he's never learned, watching a world he doesn't recognise through eyes that still see in gold and red and the pale blue of people who can be trusted. He has no mission. He has no Brotherhood. He has, apparently, a great deal of time. He uses it to keep a quiet eye on things — until a three-year-old with red eyes and a broken past arrives at the orphanage, and Desmond makes the only choice that has ever come naturally to him: he puts himself between the kid and everything that could hurt him. It turns out that's enough to build a life on. A slow-burn found family story spanning twenty years, ending precisely where My Hero Academia begins.
